Position: Assistant Brewer


  • Assist with Brewing Operations:
    • Milling, knockout, Racking, pitching yeast, and grain out
    • Running hoses and operating pumps
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing equipment as necessary prior to and following use as requested by the brewer
    • Brewhouse, fermenters, heat exchange, and brite CIP/scrub
    • Cleaning the outside of the tanks
    • Vacuuming of the mill room
    • Keg cleaning
    • General cleaning of the warehouse as needed
  • Assist with Cellaring operations as requested by brewer:
    • Taking gravity readings/monitoring fermentation
    • Dry hopping and specialty ingredient additions
  • Assist with Packaging:
    • Filling kegs
    • Filling special release bottles
    • Work with mobile canning company to can beer
    • Palletizing kegs and cans, and loading into cold room
  • Receive and organize grain
  • Maintain safety and hygiene standards throughout the brewery as requested by head brewer
  • Represent the brewery in a professional manner at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Warehouse Responsibilities

  • Receive Deliveries (Grain, Hops, and other ingredients; Kegs, Bottles and Cans; etc.) and see that they are properly stored per instructions from the Head Brewer
  • Palletize and store full kegs, cans and bottles in the designated cold room
  • Coordinate with farmer on picking up spent grain
  • Palletize and store new clean kegs until they are required for packaging
  • Provide required kegs for brewer on packaging dates
  • Store full kegs in cold room until the distributor picks them up. Kegs should be stored in a manner that does not require the cold room be completely emptied on pick up dates
  • Coordinate with distributors on dates and times they will be picking up full kegs.
  • The location of anything in the warehouse should be known and documented at all times
  • Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk: climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific abilities in this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus. You will be required to operate a forklift/fork truck, and pallet jack.

    • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a damp environment with hot liquids, airborne particles, chemicals and moving machinery. The noise level in the work environment can be very loud.
